Western intelligence is increasingly concerned about the emerging national security threat of “jihadists returning home.” These are young Muslims, born mostly in Europe, who have discovered their mystical call in joining the Islamic fanatics currently raising hell in Syria and Iraq, the two exploding flashpoints of the “Global Jihad” in the Middle East.
In 2013, RIEAS has founded the Journal of Mediterranean and Balkan Intelligence (JMBI).
The third issue (June 2014) focuses on “Modernization of Intelligence Services in the Mediterranean Region", (Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Portugal and Spain).
