The Romanian Intelligence Academy “Mihai Viteazul” (ANIMV) and the Mediterranean Council for Intelligence Studies (MCIS) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in order to promote the knowledge and spread of a common culture and internationally recognized procedures to analyze common threats.

John M. Nomikos, (RIEAS Director) predicts President Ma will be re-elected by reason of stable and safe the Cross-Strait Relations. John M. Nomikos explains that President Ma is trustable for Taiwanese as well as Mainland, and the Chinese government prefers him to have mutual negotiation. In addition, he outlines that Madam Tsai's economic policy encourages Taiwanese enterprise owners to run business in the globe, but however the Taiwanese educational system is not global, and he suggests Taiwan to bridge more the educational system with the EU member states. In addition, he addresses that Education is fundemental for the world, and Taiwan needs to be global in the education.

Dr. Andrew Liaropoulos (RIEAS Senior Analyst) won the NATO Cyber Defense Competition and participated in a seminar on cyber-security that took place in the NATO Headquarters in Brussels. Recent cyber-incidents in Estonia 2007, Georgia 2008 as well as the cases of GhostNet and Stuxnet, vividly demonstrate the complex nature of cyberspace. Cyber-attacks cross borders, they are asymmetric, sophisticated and hard to trace. NATO has to adjust to the new security environment and develop cyber defence capabilities. |
