John M Nomikos (RIEAS Director) participated in one-day (10 June 2013) NATO discussion-seminar about the Role and Vision of NATO in the world. Among other Senior NATO Officials, the Deputy General Secretary briefed us about the strategic role of NATO as well as the emerging threats that NATO will face in the coming decades. The NATO Seminar was extremely productive and fruitful to the participants, which were from several states such as: Greece, Croatia, Albania, Spain, Czech Republic, Germany, Turkey, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and United Kingdom.
Andrew N. Liaropoulos participated in the 5th International Conference on Cyber Conflict that took place in Tallinn, Estonia in 5-7 June 2013 and was organized by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence. The conference focused on legal, policy, strategic and technical spectra of cyber conflict.
George D. Vardangalos visited Moscow, Russia (4-8 June 2013) and held discussions with Senior Analysts in the Lomonosof Moscow State University as well as the Director-General of Russian International Affairs Council. The discussion covered briefly many subjects such as: building mutual security in the Euro-Atlantic Region, the qualitative transformation of Russian-American Relations on strategic issues, Russia and the greater Middle-East, postulates on Russia’s foreign policy (2012-2018).
