iafie 2025John M Nomikos, Director, Research Institute for European and American Studies (RIEAS), Chairman, European Intelligence Academy (EIA), Founding Editor, Journal of European and American Intelligence Studies (JEAIS), Associate Professor and Head of the History, Politics and International Relations, Department at the Athens Campus of Webster University, was chosen as the recipient of the 2025 Life Time Achievement Award by the International Association for Intelligence Education Global, USA (9-11 September 2025) for his academic research work on Intelligence Studies in the international community.

malta24John M Nomikos (RIEAS Director and Chairman, European Intelligence Academy) participated in the panel on “2024 The Change Begins: 6th Cognitive Domain: The Future of Intelligence and the Emerging Need to Implement Intelligence Education on Cognitive Domain” organized by the International Association for Intelligence Education- Europe on 10-12 September 2024, Valetta, Malta.

The conference adopts a multidisciplinary perspective to address the paramount challenges facing intelligence education in the modern era, with particular focus on leveraging new technologies, engaging with the next generation, and fostering a culture of shared knowledge between academia, private sector, and governmental entities.

Nomikos (RIEAS Director) coordinated the panel on “Hybrid Threats and Resiliency of Society” at the Zagreb Security Forum on Transatlantic Cooperation and New Security Architecture. Prof Andrew Liaropoulos (RIEAS Senior Analyst & University of Piraeus, Greece) delivered a speech on Emerging Disruptive Technologies and EU Cyber-security. Dr. Eleni Kapsokoli (University of Piraeus, Greece) delivered a speech on Digital Jihad Model: the case of ISIS. The conference took place on 20-21 October 2023 in the Croatian Military Academy in Zagreb.

Nomikos (RIEAS Director and Chairman of the European Intelligence Academy (EIA) – a Network supervised by RIEAS, was a panelist at a conference entitled "Press Freedom at Risk?", which was organized by the Greek Chapter of the Association of European Journalists (AEJ). The one-day conference was held at the the European Parliament's Liaison Office in Athens, Greece. Dr. Nomikos' talk concerned the relationship between the mass media and the intelligence and defense communities.

Ioannis (John) M. Nomikos was awarded the “2019 Life Achievement Prize for the Development of Intelligence Studies in Europe” by Professor Bob de Graaff, former Chairman of the International Association for Intelligence Education- European Chapter (IAFIE -EUROPE). The IAFIE- European Chapter - 2019 International Conference was organized by the “Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy (MVNIA) on 14-17 April 2019, Bucharest, Romania. Participants attended the international conference were from twenty one (21) countries! Romania, Greece, USA, UK, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, Spain, Serbia, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Poland, Israel, Portugal, Turkey, Malta, Norway and Switzerland. During the international conference, Ioannis (John) M. Nomikos delivered a speech on “Counterintelligence in Greece: Threats from human trafficking, migration and radicalization in the Balkan Peninsula.”
