As we speak Turkey has declared hybrid war on Greece via throngs of illegal immigrants threatening to overwhelm Greek borders. Rumors say these throngs are replete with Turkish special forces saboteurs infiltrating Greek territory. Turkish government ministers miss no opportunity to openly threaten Greece in unmistakable language. For all intends and purposes, Turkey has practically declared war on its neighbor.

This is no surprise development. Ever since the 1974 brazen Turkish invasion of Cyprus, Ankara has relentlessly pursued an undeclared war in the Aegean Sea questioning Greek sovereignty and dishing international treaties and international law...Read more

On February 27, RIEAS honored me with The Minas Nomikos Award for Security Research Excellence 2020 and a Certificate of Appreciation, a gesture I deeply appreciated.

RIEAS and I share a long association and cooperation based on a strong friendship with RIEAS’s tireless president John Nomikos. John and I met in the late 1980s and soon we were discussing the idea of a research group aimed at Greek and international security studies against the backdrop of the Greek-US alliance.
