Illegal immigrant inflow by sea increased sharply in Q1 2015
The inflow of illegal immigrants by sea has increased more than threefold in Q1 2015 compared to Q1 2014 (10,445 arrests compared to 2,863 respectively).

New government plans to grant citizenship to 2nd generation immigrants
The new PM Mr Alexis Tsipras, presenting his government's programmatic statements, emphasized that the Bill granting citizenship to 2nd generation immigrants will be promptly forwarded to the Parliament.

Foreigners constitute the absolute majority of inmates in Greek prisons
According to relevant data 60.4% of all inmates in Greek prisons are foreigners. This is another indication of the link between illegal immigration and serious crime.

Unemployment much higher for foreign nationals
According to the latest Labor Force Survey (3rd quarter of 2014) the unemployment rate of foreign nationals was much higher compared to the Greeks (30.3% compared to 25.1% respectively).

Greece did not make the most from EU funding
From 2007 to 2013 Greece was granted 207 million euros from the External Borders Fund in order to patrol its borders more effectively. Nevertheless, Greece managed to absorb only 43% of these funds (compared to EU average of 87.6%).
